Fractal Images
|
Fractals art is a beautiful sight to see, no one would ever know that these images, are basically, computer iterated patterns, generated by mathematical eqautions.

What are Fractals???
|
The name fractal was created by Benoit Mandelbrot in the 1970's to describe any two- or three- dimensional object that has the following properties:
* The object is complex, and is endlessly magnifiable
* Pictures of the object can be produced by short computer programs.
Because a fractal is endlessly magnifiable and must be decribed by iterations, or steps that can be repeated endlessly Fractals explains almost everything that exists in the world, they are sometimes still a mystery to scientists, and mathematicians. Their beauty and complexity draws more and more people to learn about them, and their properties. This fractal pictured to the right is called a floral fractal. There are many types of fractals..ranging from crazy ones to simple ones.

Applications of Fractals
|
There are many applications to fractals, ranging from modeling coastlines, modeling the size of earthquakes, explaing the "not so random" order of nature, and even just for simple art appriciation.
** Fractals contribute to modern medicine
** Fractals explain and model nature, such as leaves, trees, and evn our bodies.
** Fractals are involved with economics and businesses like the stock market.
** Fractals are used in certain areas of engineering.
*** Fractals can encourage learning and mathematical and scientific exploration in the classroom.
